Ayveq, the walrus that I wrote about earlier, passed away this past Sunday. Which makes me a bit sad. You can read the announcement on the NY Aquarium web site.
Dave Allen, BBG‘s Web Manager, created some interesting time-lapse videos.

For the 125th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge, New York City arranged for special lighting shows and a fireworks display. I had a prime view from my window and took many photos.
I plan on printing these images and making a framed triptych.
Last night, I noticed strange lighting on the Brooklyn Bridge. A quick 311 call informed me that they are preparing for the 125th Anniversary of the bridge tomorrow!
If the weather is nice, I will be on my roof taking photos.
There were fireworks in downtown Brooklyn this past Sunday, September 30. I don’t know why. Perhaps for Yom Kippur?
My new apartment is on the edge of Brooklyn Heights, right next to DUMBO. DUMBO stands for “Down under the Manhattan Bridge overpass.” The neighborhood is literally underneath the Manhattan Bridge. Yesterday, I showed a bunch of friends the new place, and then we walked around DUMBO. We ate dinner and had a couple of beers at Superfine, a really great restaurant. After that, we walked around a little bit. It’s quite a beautiful neighborhood.
